- GREENHOUSE UNITS -

General description.

Modern greenhouses suitable for all crop species are built for the needs of Municipal Master Plan, studied and designed based on existing international standards. The greenhouses are installed in High Production Zone and produce products certified according to national standards with technologies of vertical hydroponics. The construction morphology of greenhouses ensures the strength of the structure, the penetration of solar radiation into the inner area of greenhouse and the lowest cost of construction.

Construction method (PB / Prefab Blocks).

The constructional components of greenhouse (blocks) are designed based on ease of prefabrication in order to enable easy transport and assembly. In order to limit the cost of construction an innovative production system where extensive use of materials and components from certified suppliers is applied, in constructional combinations with similar mechanical properties so that to achieve homogeneity of generated sections and to ensure quality.

Specifications of construction.

A) Basic dimensions
* Overall length: 60.00 m.
* Maximum width: 27.00 m.
* Overall height: 8.50 m.
* Total greenhouse area: 1650 m2.
* Total farming area: 3475 m2 in 5 levels.

B) Construction materials
* Framework: Structural steel.
* Transparent parts: Polycarbonate sheets.
* Walls: Sheet metal.

C) Hydroponic equipment
* Mix-storage tanks of nutrient solution.
* Water supply facility.
* Water dechlorination unit.
* Fertigation head.
* Piping for nutrient solution.
D) Microclimate equipment (Heating-Cooling)
Employs technology GGA (Gas + Ground+ Air) in two levels (underfloor & indoor), acting as a climate battery that stores heat energy equilibrating the thermal balance. The advantage of this technology with regard to classical heating is that it heats both the flooring and the greenhouse air with outstanding results in plant growth.

* Fertigation programmer.
* High pressure axial pumps.
* Solenoid valves.
* Air filter (activated carbon).
* Electric motors.
* Circulator pumps.

Vertical Hydroponic System.

A) Farming method
The production processes in this field are the result of a combination of technologies and methodologies, namely hydroponic method applicable to vertical farming system of porous material-substrate with drip feeding control. This is the cultivation method in which the plants grow out of soil. Natural products such as perlite and peat instead of soil are used as substrate in linear order of 5 levels, and cultures are fed with a solution of balanced nutrients necessary for the proper functioning and performance of plants. Moreover, gases and liquids are used for the improvement of vegetables antioxidant system. The antioxidant system may increase the resistance of plants to oxidative attacks and imparts beneficial effects on performance. The fertilization and mineral nutrition of hydroponic crops takes place exclusively via the supplied nutrient solution to plants. The composition of nutrient solutions and the relative proportions of nutrients between them depend on the plant species, growth stage and climatic conditions.
B) Crop benches
The cultivation of various plants is done on specially designed benches that can be customized to any form of cultivation and constitute a highly efficient and effective cultivation model. It increases the efficiency of work force and generally facilitates all cultural operations, reduce the risks of diseases, better water management takes place and diseases control is more effective.

C) Yields
Production quantity of vertical hydroponics is multiple of conventional greenhouses production and can reach yields of 45-80 kg/m2. The total annual quantity of production ranges between 70-120 tons and it is the result of the total number of harvests of species cultivated.
